Tomomi started playing clarinet and saxophone at age 10 in Japan. She has been playing for 13 years in school bands and has taken part in competitions, various concerts as soloist and workshops. She graduated from the Faculty of Education of Oita University in Japan and learned teaching method of music as well as her specialty.
She is studying Classical Saxophone under Michael Jamieson at the University of Auckland. She is a member of the UoA Saxophone Quartet and Auckland Youth Orchestra. She also performed at the final concert of the 2015 New Zealand School of Music’s, Queens Birthday Chamber Music weekend and LECT presents tertiary chamber groups. Tomomi gained the top mark in NZ of Trinity College London Grade 7, passed the ATCL with distinction and LTCL in 2016.
Her teaching goal is to empower other emerging players to find their talents, passions and joy of music.
