
Martin Qi
Martin Qi is an experienced violin and viola teacher who is well versed in the art of orchestral and chamber music playing. He is currently completing a Masters of Music at the University of Auckland specializing in Studio Pedagogy; having just completed his performance degree and honours, with first class.
Martin has been a finalist in both the NZCT National Chamber Music Competition and the ACMS Competition. In terms of orchestral experience he has previously been the principal violist in both the CYO and UoA Symphony orchestras. In 2012 Martin was the assistant-principal viola in the NZSO National Youth Orchestra, as well as having performed under the baton of Plácido Domingo.
Martin has received coaching from international artists such as Elisabeth Kufferath, Andrew Beer, Leo Philips and Caroline Almonte.
