Diane was born in South Korea, and she started violin at age of 6. She moved to New Zealand in 2008 and was selected as a member of Seoul Arts Centre Music Academy at the age of 11 and has performed extensively as a soloist, chamber and orchestra musician since she moved to New Zealand.
As a soloist, she received most promising award in New Zealand National concerto competition in the age of 16 and was selected as a semi-finalist in Gisborne International Competition the following year. Recently, she was invited to perform with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra as a young performer of the year. She won first prize in the Christchurch National Concerto Competition where she performed with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra as well as winning first prize in the Gala Soloist Competition at the University of Auckland. She also performed Sibelius Violin Concerto at the Auckland Town Hall with the University of Auckland Symphony Orchestra.
She is also interested in Orchestra works, after being selected in the Fellowship Programme member of New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO). At the end of the Fellowship Programme, she was listed as a casual member of NZSO. She has been selected as concertmaster at the University of Auckland Symphony Orchestra.
